Spring Wild Edibles Gathering : Food as Medicine in the Wild
A seasonal exploration of local wild plants as both food and herbal allies
Join us for an outdoor gathering under the canopy as we meet the wild edible and medicinal plants growing right here in our local landscape this spring. This class is rooted in connection, learning to recognize, taste, and understand the plants that nourish us both nutritionally and medicinally.
Rather than focusing heavily on tinctures or formal preparations, we’ll explore how many of our local “weeds” are deeply supportive as everyday plant foods. You’ll learn how these plants strengthen the body through minerals, bitters, gentle herbal actions, and how food itself can be one of our most accessible forms of medicine.
Together we’ll cover:
• Safe identification and respectful harvesting practices
• The medicinal and nutritive properties of seasonal wild plants
• How wild foods support the nervous system, digestion, and overall vitality
• Ethical wildcrafting and reciprocal relationship with the land
You’ll experience each plant through scent, taste, and story, leaving with a deeper understanding of how to work with local flora as both nourishment and medicine.
April 26th, 2-4pm
This gathering is an outdoors, rain-or-shine event held at The Green Farmacy Sanctuary, and is open to all experience levels. No prior herbal knowledge needed. Registered participants will receive the exact location and arrival details via email prior to the class.
The Green Farmacy is a 5th generation family farm practicing regenerative agricultural methods, and being a sanctuary to native plants, wildlife, and locals alike. They are located in Adams, Tennessee. After the class, Kaya from the farm will be leading a hike to a creek, if you are craving more nature time. The trail is a bit hilly and rough, but absolutely gorgeous.
This class is offered in collaboration between Root & Wander Collective and the Tennessee Herbalists Guild (AHG) as part of our shared commitment to growing a vibrant local herbal community. A portion of each ticket supports the Guild’s nonprofit efforts. Guild members receive discounted pricing, and active membership status will be verified prior to the event. Curious about joining?
